Sublimation Ink:

Nature: They are pigment suspended in a liquid solvent, like water.

Used for: Sublimation Blanks printing, Textile Printing

Advantages: Water Resistance, Involves transfer of inks only

Disadvantages: Only apply to limited colored garments

 

What can sublimation printing be used for?
Once this has been done, heat is then used to transfer the image from the sublimation paper to an object. What materials are not compatible with Sublimation?
Items that cannot be transferred onto are either supplied without the polymer sublimation coating applied or are fabrics that are made from natural fibres these include-

Cotton – cotton is a natural fibre. It contains no polyester and so has nothing for the sublimation ink to bond to.

Dark fabrics – sublimation transfer printing is best suited to white or pale pastel colours. Printing not to dark or black fabrics will yield poor visibility of the design. The rule of thumb here is- if the ink is darker than the fabric it will be visible. i.e. black ink transferred onto a yellow fabric.

Can I sublimate on any fabric?
Sublimation coating spray can be used on cotton shirts, mugs, ceramics, canvas, leather, and even acrylic. You can even spray it over light-colored polyester shirts for a more vibrant
